Milky Way `loses` two of its arms
London: For decades, astronomers have pictured our galaxy as sporting four major, spiral arms, however new images effectively sever two appendages, revealing the Milky Way has just two major arms. An astronomer is calling for demoting two entire arms of our galaxy, after they failed to turn up in a sensitive new map of the Milky Way`s stars. Astronomers weigh "failed stars"
Astronomers have used ultra sharp images obtained with the Keck Telescope and Hubble Space Telescope to determine for the first time the masses of the coldest class of brown dwarfs, which are also known as "failed stars". Brown dwarfs are a class of objects that represent the missing link between the lowest-mass stars and the gas-giant planets, such as Jupiter and Saturn. They are the faintest and coolest objects that can be directly observed outside the solar system. Also, with masses as light as 3 per cent the mass of the sun, these are the lowest mass free-floating objects ever weighed outside the solar system. London: A spoof commercial for a sexy car alarm with a recording of a woman in the throws of passion has become immensely popular among net surfers. The advertisement for an Orgasalarm car has attracted nearly 120,000 viewers which relays the amplified sound of an intense female orgasm in time to the car`s flashing hazard warning lights.
